James Wallen

Health Advisor

James Wallen joined the Speak Up Africa team in July 2019 as a program officer leading the roll out of the « Zero Malaria Starts with Me » campaign in Ghana and Sierra Leone. As Malaria Program Coordinator since 2021, he manages a team across 5 countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Senegal and Uganda) for the implementation of Speak Up Africa’s malaria portfolio. Between 2015 and 2019, James worked with Global Citizen Year, an international education program.

He is an experienced project manager with experience in advocacy, research, M&E, program coordination, public health and youth development. He holds a Masters degree in Medical Anthropology from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, and an MA in Social Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh.

He has been a resident in Senegal for 9 years though originates from Scotland.
