We value being intimately familiar with the contexts in which we operate. We know it is critical to identify and get to know the key stakeholders involved in any issue: those who design the policies, those who enact them and those who are affected by them. Before beginning any project, we seek a comprehensive knowledge of local conditions, actors, issues, challenges and priorities.

We also support a context-specific approach to all our work. Rather than seeking “best practice” solutions adopted from elsewhere, we start with locally identified and prioritized problems as the basis for crafting “best fit” local solutions that will last. Change takes time. As an organization with a stake in the future of our continent, we are in it for the long haul.
